Grand Showing at the Ohio State Fair

The biggest art exhibit in the state is back in full force at the Ohio State Fair.The 2023 Fine Arts Exhibition includes more than 360 art works by more than 280 artists – professionals and amateurs from throughout Ohio – on view in the Cox Fine Arts Center at the south end of the fairgrounds.

A very exciting evening for Phoenix Rising members at the Ohio State Fair Fine Arts Exhibition’s Artist Reception. Two of our members took BOTH Juror’s Choice Awards, Professional Division-Congrats to Susanna Harris & Christine D’Epiro Abbott. In total 9 members have 22 pieces of artwork in this juried, statewide exhibition. On display in the Cox Fine Arts building through August 6th! In addition, Eliana Calle Saari had the esteemed role as Juror for the Amateur Division. Kudos to ALL.

Phoenix Rising is dedicated to the fine art of printmaking and we acknowledge & encourage all printmakers. Each year we fund a cash prize for printmaking in the Professional, Amateur Divisions and the High School division of the Ohio State Fair fine art exhibitions. Thank you to core members Alana Hiser, Elaina Workley and Peter White for selecting this year’s award winners. Our Professional Award winner is Edward Steffanni for his color lithograph, “Somewhere Over Ohio”. The winner of our Amateur Award is Greg Krivicich for his etching “Fragile Forest”. The winner of our High School award is a 2023 graduate of Wellington School in Upper Arlington, Miss Kyla Hammond for her print “Le Pidgeon”. Congratulations!
