Partnering with the Shadow

::

by Mary Woodworth

How does an artist portray the struggle with the dark side of human interaction, the Shadow Side? Associate member, Mary Woodworth has been consciously wrestling with resolving this creative dilemma for 2 years. Her current relief print series expresses her insights into the exhaustive study of self reflection and human interaction. The titles of her work may offer a clue as to what is being illustrated, what struggle is occurring, what action is necessary to transcend the struggle. This event is free & open to the public.

Watercolor Monoprint Workshop ::

This class provides an easy way to transform a favorite photo into an original work of art.  Bring an 8-1/2″ x 11″ color image that we will place under a plexiglass plate.  After tracing a few outlines with a crayon, you simply fill in areas with watercolor, and then print the plate on our press.  The vibrant colors and lacy white lines of your print may have a different character from your original image, but it’s easy to capture the charm of a summer moment in a print you will enjoy making. The result is an exciting new piece, not a copy of your photo.

This simple method is ideal for first-time printers and anyone who wants a fast-track to creativity without the tedium of drawing.  Great fun for kids! Bring a snack and a couple of letter-sized photos.
