Katherine Vasey / Houndsaint is a CCAD graduate (2014) and a practicing relief printmaker since 2017. She is a Columbus native and travels to shows across the US to sell her work.
Much of my work is inspired by medieval and early post-medieval print and illumination, with a focus on re-examining (and often subverting) traditional religious imagery and themes through my own unique lens. I love the process of relief, from carving to printing, and the craftsmanship and physicality that goes with it–honing my own tools, preparing blocks, working with the presses. I enjoy keeping my work accessible, in a sort of emulation of the post-medieval tradition of print as communication, and regularly travel to a variety of different shows and conventions throughout the year.
