Jessica Depp

Jessica Depp is a BFA graduate from the Art Academy of Cincinnati. She has been a member of the Phoenix Rising Printmaking Cooperative in Columbus, Ohio for over ten years.

Artist Statement

My major area of interest is printmaking but other disciplines that influence my work are animation, origami and artists’ books. The factors that tie the mediums together are process, sequence, multiple images and the transition between images. I visualize not only a static image but also the images that precede and follow it.

Conceptualizing with movement and transition helps me to find the dynamics of the composition. Often printmaking involves science and chemistry and transforming the materials into the artistic which can engage our aesthetics and inform our social norms. This is what continues to engage me to printmaking.
