Intaglio w/chine colle, 23 ½” x 17”

Born in Massachusetts and raised in Pennsylvania, Anne now has lived in Worthington, Ohio for the past 25 years. She has traveled extensively around the world and enjoys travel almost as much as making art. She is co-founder of Phoenix Rising Printmaking Cooperative, a non-profit studio, in Columbus where she continues to print, teach and encourage others to learn about and appreciate the medium of printmaking. When she is not actually making art, she shares her passion for it by being a Docent at the Columbus Museum of Art. While exhibiting throughout Ohio, nationally and internationally, she has been the recipient of an Ohio Arts Council grant.
My medium of choice is usually Printmaking; although I sometimes work in pastel or watercolor. Printmaking offers many processes with which to experiment. The intaglio and relief methods I often employ, etching, collagraph, linocut, mezzotint and monotype permit me to develop images evolving from a technical thought process, through the physical manipulations of the plate, to the visual interpretation that culminates with a print.
I am particularly drawn to places where the geology is evident, marking layers of time and history. The vast lay of the land, the flow of rivers, the rush of the sea and the stones that surface become my focus. The images are created to evoke careful observation of a multi-faceted environment. The fluid lines and designs created in topographical maps intrigue me and are often repeated in the composition of my images.
Our land and our experience of it have been recurring themes in my artwork. Whether the image is inspired from an actual scene or from the landscape of my mind, both real and imagined environments, the objective is to present an image that serves as a catalyst to the mind and spirit in unison.
