Watercolor Monoprint Workshop

This class provides an easy way to transform a favorite photo into an original work of art. Bring an 8-1/2″ x 11″ color image that we will place under a plexiglass plate. After tracing a few outlines with a crayon, you simply fill in areas with watercolor, and then print the plate on our press. The vibrant colors and lacy white lines of your print may have a different character from your original image, but it’s easy to capture the charm of a summer moment in a print you will enjoy making. The result is an exciting new piece, not a copy of your photo.

This simple method is ideal for first-time printers and anyone who wants a fast-track to creativity without the tedium of drawing. Great fun for kids! Bring a snack and a couple of letter-sized photos.

$35 per participant, includes all materials. Adults and children over 12 Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Reservations are required. Space is limited.

Back to the Bite – Etching

This 6-session workshop series will concentrate on the basics of etching, an intaglio printmaking process with lines and textures incised (with acid and/or tools) in metal, inked and printed on damp paper with an etching press. Drypoint, acid-resist grounds, aquatint and inking strategies will provide opportunities to explore and combine varying techniques in the same print.

 

The workshop will be summer fun for artists new to the process and for those who wish to review and brush up on elementary etching methods.

 

Tuesday and Thursdays, July 19 & 21; 26 & 28; August 2 & 4.
Time:  9:30 am – 12:30 pm
Cost:  $200, materials included.
