Havanna Adventure
Core member, Karen Albanese Campbell had a great international adventure in printmaking. Columbus artists were invited to travel to Havana, Cuba in October for an intensive experience printing lithographs! Check out the progress photos!
Comment from Karen:
“My two days at Taller Experimental de Graphica in Havana were amazing! What a privilege to work in such a storied studio with master printers and the first woman director in its 61 year life. The lithograph I made has a list of problems but I’m happy with it. Happy with the layers of symbolism; the strong message of “pax” and welcome feels timely. It has many references to people I love. Here’s a string of photos including the beginning and ending of my stone. Don’t the printers look heroic pushing the stone through the press? Definitely a pivotal experience for my work. I hope to return. Thank you to Yamilys, Pedro, Ian, NeNe, Rolando and everybody else who welcomed us, assisted us, made us coffee, encouraged us and kissed us goodbye. And to all the artists: Rich Lillash, April Sunami, Char Norman and Rosa and Chloe. And Michael Reese, thank you for inviting me, such an honor.” @reesebrospro @yamilysbritojorge
