featuring Joan Tallan (Member of the Cooperative), Sherry Hawk, & Barb Vogel
Join us for Conversations & Coffee, a free weekly program bringing together artists and those of you who love art. Bring your lunch; we’ll provide the coffee! This week features printmaker Joan Tallan, Sherry Hawk (Trustee of Sid Chafetz’ work), & Main Gallery Exhibition Curator – Barb Vogel, as they share about the current exhibition, The Storytellers.
The Storytellers highlights the work of artists Marjorie Bender, Sid Chafetz and Joan Tallan who express their political, social and personal sentiments through printmaking. These three artists are sensitive observers of human nature. Their work narrates the fate of the individual in society. Exploring historical figures, politics and everyday life, they often use satire and humor in their messages. Their paths have crossed at different times, all were fast friends, and they have continued to influence each other even though Chafetz died five years ago and Bender moved to Maryland a decade ago. The exhibition is curated by Barb Vogel and is on display though May 19, 2018.
