Julia DePinto
Julia DePinto was born in Dayton, Ohio. She received an MFA in Studio Art from the University of Connecticut and a BFA in Printmaking from Wright State University. Her interdisciplinary practice explores the discourse of contemporary self-portraiture by combining traditional and experimental approaches to printmaking and photography with the tools of smart technology and design. Highly emotive self-portraits are used as a conduit for contextualizing social and political commentary, including the societal structures placed on women in advertising and digital spaces. DePinto’s work has been shown nationally in solo and group exhibitions including Boston University, Indiana University Southeast, Illinois State University, and Real Art Ways in Hartford, CT. Her work has been featured in Fresh Paint, Studio Visit, and Starry Night magazines.
