claudia retter headshotPhotographer and book artist Claudia Retter presents an “illustrated reading” of her handmade artist book, The Flying Adventures of Two Candy Cane Pen Friends, then follows with her Artist Talk, Creative Persistence: Lessons from a Long-Term Project.

In her talk, Retter takes us through the history of creating Flying Adventures, and how the quest to bring a single handmade book to a larger audience not only continues to shape the project’s trajectory, but also transforms its creator. While told from an artist’s perspective, Retter touches on universal themes that inspire audiences to see their own projects’ successes and failures as part of a bigger picture. Read more
