Colors Conquered by All at Cosi Science Festival Event
Last Friday, May 2nd, 2025, we hosted Decode Color with CMYK, an event sponsored by Cosi Science as a part of the 7th annual Cosi Science Festival. This event was free, open to the public, and friendly for all ages. We had a blast helping everyone through this beginner friendly activity.
A small hallway gallery show was also hung to inspire what the possibilities of color could be, Karen made quick work of getting it hung after members gave us their most colorful work to showcase.
Attendees got to silkscreen Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow flames using transparent inks so they could see how those colors can create a range of other colors using this tactic. Then everyone got to choose a block print to print in “Key” Black over their flames and unlock the final puzzle piece for CMYK.
Fun was had by all, and successful prints were made by people aging from 3 years old and up! Hope to see you all at the science festival next year!
The Small Hallway Gallery show was hung to celebrate the wonders of transparent color layering. The show was curated and hung by Karen Albanese Campbell with work featured by both core and associate members as well as some loans from students from past Phoenix Rising Printmaking workshops! Thank you to those artists: Judith Steele, Karen Albanese Campbell, Elaina Workley, Jessica Saxton, Jean McKee, Barbara Vogel, Anne Cushman, Christine D’Epiro Abbott, and Miranda Rife.
